Life is like a thread that gets shorter with each moment that passes by and I guess that is what makes us value this life in this inn where we are just travellers facing various difficulties.

We tend to complain about the various problems we face in our day to day life and tend to lose our present and optimistic attitude towards tackling these obstacles, well after you hear about Norbert Miranda, you shall value what you have and put a full stop to the unwanted desires.

He started as a kite vendor and with the support of Vincy D’mello he opened up his shop on Manuel Gonsalves road (150 meters from St. Andrews College) named Nobby’s Corner. He sells various snack items along with various refreshments.

Now you would be wondering what’s so great about him as compared to the vendors near your house? Well like every leaf on a tree has a different story to say, here is the inspiring story on Nobert.

He had a normal life like each and every kid has until he reached the turning point of his life. When he was 7 years old, he fell off his house and in the hospital and went through a wrong treatment that made his hand septic. After 14 days the senior doctor advised him to cut off his right hand or the infection would spread to the entire body. He used to use his right hand for most of his daily tasks and converting from a righty to a lefty wasn’t easy for him, but like a true hero, he still continued to smile as he believes that the smile through tears is the greatest smile one can get on his or her face.

It is true adversity affects one’s life to a great extent but true hero’s rise from the middle of these problems. He went to a night school and today it is due to his perseverance and hard work that he was able to educate his daughter and make her get into one of the best colleges in Mumbai – St. Xaviers.

One thing I learnt from Nobert was to smile in every situation and show the problems that arise in front of you that you are way stronger than them as God created you as he had faith in you to tackle these problems. He advises young entrepreneurs that they should have the courage and willpower to convert their dreams into reality. He is indeed a true hero of Bandra.
