St. Catherine of Siena School & Orphanage secure fourth place in the esteemed ‘Wear My Shoes 2023’ award!

A big round of applause to the incredible staff and students of St. Catherine of Siena School and Orphanage, Bandra, for securing the fourth place in the prestigious ‘Wear My Shoes 2023’ award among fifty schools worldwide! Their unwavering dedication to environmental conservation has earned them this international recognition, making St. Catherine’s the first school in India to achieve this remarkable feat.

On 18th November, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, hosted the vibrant ‘Children’s Huddle’ where St. Catherine’s was felicitated, and schools from all over India showcased their creativity through visuals and dance performances. The audience was enthralled by a captivating flute performance, adding an extra touch of magic to the event.

Khadija Bakar of St. Catherine’s delivered a powerful speech on environmental conservation, inspiring everyone present. The school’s choir then mesmerized the audience with their beautiful recital. Archbishop Felix Machado and Ms Rebecca KKS Kohn of Arigatou International, N.Y. gave out the certificates to the Ms Patricia Furtado, Bro. Joseph Sebastian – Trustees and Ms Lizelle Pereira, Head Mistress of St. Catherine’s.

The Eco Warriors of St. Catherine of Siena School, Bandra, have been recognized for their outstanding dedication as they have tirelessly worked towards cleaning up the Bandstand and Bandra Promenade, making a positive difference in our community. On 2nd October, they led the 9th Eco Cleanliness drive, joined by various schools and organizations.

These incredible kids are embracing the slogan “Follow the Mahatma for a Clean Bandra” with unmatched enthusiasm. Impressed by the unwavering enthusiasm of these amazing kids as they eagerly descended the steps onto the rocks, determined to clean up the mess left behind by others. One young hero from St. Anne’s School, Pali Hill summed it up perfectly, “I want to save the planet.” Let’s support their noble cause and make a difference together!

From humble backgrounds, the children of St. Catherine’s are becoming champions for the environment. They teach their parents about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and inspire them to participate in eco-friendly initiatives, even during the monsoons. Let’s follow their lead and make a difference in preserving our planet’s beauty.
