A woman in her 20’s with injury marks on her neck was found dead at St. Francis of Assisi Church compound in Bandra (W) in the wee hours of May 31.
The woman and the accused were involved in a fight on May 31 night when she threatened to file a rape case against him if he didn’t marry her and return the Rs 1.5 lakh which she had loaned him.
The accused was held within 24 hours by the officials of crime branch unit 9, while he was planning to flee to Jharkhand and booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder.
Police have sent the woman’s body for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
