There are artists and there are artists. And then there is acclaimed artist Sanjukta Arun Barik (a Bandra resident) who is always around to support a good cause. She is associated with the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) and is the current president of the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay North, the largest women’s voluntary service organisation in the world, though she supports Zilla Parishad schools in Igatpuri and Karjat, St Anthony’s girls home and old age home. She is also associated with Giants International, supporting the rehabilitation of transgenders and others.
Renowned contemporary artist Sanjukta is a curator and founder of La Aartemisia Studio and Gallery. She has an MBA in Sales & Marketing and Diploma in International Business. After a short stint in the corporate sector, she took to her inner calling and surrendered herself to art about 28 years ago and made it her profession.
She has carved a niche for herself in the art industry with over 60 exhibitions, both in India and overseas with 26 solo shows to her credit and also five online solo shows. Her last show was in aid of children battling cancer and CPAA. She also curates high-profile art shows.
She works extensively for the benefit of Cancer Braveheart and children with special needs. She also conducts art therapy workshops with corporates, has conducted art sessions for Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club, and art sessions for Dharavi school teachers for the Rotary Club.
Apart from her artistic abilities, she is a trained ghazal singer and trained in light classical music with the prestigious Suresh Wadkar’s Academy, Mumbai. Here’s looking forward to her next art exhibition!
