The Gleehive is a children’s choir based in Bandra. It has been running for over 40 years under the mentorship of Celeste Cordo, a former violinist and piano teacher, whose primary goal is to nurture and promote an all-around musical education for children. Over the years, The Gleehive has performed for various Indian award shows and has also been featured by international performers. Many young people who have gone through the training imparted by the Gleehive are now prominent Musicians and Singers on the Professional Stage as well as in the Film Industry. Many have also gone to pursue higher music studies at music colleges abroad.
Under the guidance of Dawn Cordo Gonsalves, a professional in the music industry who has studied music education at Berklee College of Music, the music program grew beyond just the children’s choir. It now encompasses a full-fledged music education program for instrumentalists as well.
During the pandemic, the Gleehive continued to keep the musical spirit going to ensure that the children’s growth was not hindered. Returning back to offline classes and now, performances, we are excited to feature all our young talent as well as some well-known faces such as Ella Attai, and Neuman Pinto along with the young adults’ choir – Cadenza Kantori.
This year’s concert is all about dreams. It especially focuses on how as young people, we aspire to achieve our most imaginative dreams but as we grow up, they are tainted or ridiculed by external influences. After being cooped up in our homes for a little over two years with minimalistic social contact due to the pandemic we are now back full of life and vitality to present The Gleehive Buzz on April 23, 2023, at St Andrew’s Auditorium Bandra. We shall entertain, enthral and captivate you with music from popular musicals, movies, operettas, and more. All are linked together with an intriguing storyline and theme, uniquely dramatised. The Gleehive Buzz is all about originality. So, don’t expect the same old repertoire that one is so accustomed to experiencing!
