Ekatvam, a singles group, collaborated with the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC), a non-profit government organization committed to facilitating deceased organ distribution to organize an enlightening Organ Donation Awareness session at St. Peter’s Church on October 1st, with invaluable support and guidance from the parish priest Fr. Luke Rodrigues.
The name “Ekatvam” holds a special meaning; it is derived from the Sanskrit word for unity or oneness. They represent a diverse community of SINGLES dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and arranging enriching outreach activities. Their community is continually growing, consisting of individuals from ALL FAITHS and aged 30 years and above. And they extend a heartfelt welcome to anyone interested in becoming a part of their group – EKATVAM. (Please contact Brian Dsouza on 98204 32522 for more details.)
In their mission to raise awareness, they have received tremendous support from First Water Advertising, who crafted impactful WhatsApp posts and banners, prominently displayed at St. Peter’s Church and across various WhatsApp communities.
Their guest speaker, Dr. Bharat Shah, General Secretary of ZTCC, Mumbai, passionately emphasized the profound significance of organ donation. He illuminated how each one of us possesses the extraordinary ability to save more than 8 lives through the selfless act of organ donation after our passing.
Irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or state of health, our organs can become a source of life for those in need long after we have departed this world. Each of our bodies holds the potential to positively impact the lives of over 58 individuals.
Dr. Shah shared a heartwarming story of a father who could feel his daughter’s heartbeat in another person, long after her tragic passing. He also demystified the complexities of the organ donation process, emphasizing that it’s a decision that bears no cost and inflicts no discomfort. Following Dr. Shah’s insightful presentation, Ekatvam’s Spiritual Advisor, Fr. Fabian Baretto, delivered a beautiful vote of thanks to all those involved in initiating this awareness journey at our Parish.
In summary, it was a profound discussion that left a lasting impact on all of us who were present. Organ donation is a profoundly selfless and noble act, one that allows us to leave a lasting impact on both Earth and in heaven. God does not require our physical bodies to grant us a resurrected one.
