The Eco Warriors initiative started by the Trustees of St. Catherine of Siena School is truly commendable. By teaching children to respect the environment and keep it clean, the initiative instills important values of environmental responsibility and sustainability from a young age.

Equipped with garbage bags and gloves, the children actively participate in collecting dry garbage. The collected garbage is then transferred to a larger pack, ensuring proper disposal. The inclusion of children from other schools provides an excellent opportunity for them to interact and collaborate, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility towards the environment.

The activity takes place on Sundays, allowing the children to dedicate their time to this important cause. Dividing the children into groups, each with a different color headband, helps in organizing and allocating specific areas for clean-up. The designated area covers Land’s End to the end of B.J. Road, including the Taj Lands End, where the children also contribute by planting saplings. This holistic approach combines both cleanliness and environmental conservation.

It is heartening to know that the Eco Warriors have assembled for the seventh time, indicating the sustainability and longevity of the initiative. Despite the unfortunate reality of people continuously littering public areas, the commitment and dedication of the Eco Warriors to address this issue are inspiring. Their consistent efforts are crucial in creating awareness and promoting a cleaner and greener environment.

The participation of various organizations, schools, colleges, and community groups, including St. Catherine of Siena School students and ex-students, B.B.R.T., Taj Land’s End, Swatch Mumbai, Bandra schools and colleges, Focolare, Agni, Bandra One, AASRA, YMCA, Divya Darshan, and Rainbow kids, further reinforces the collaborative nature of this initiative. Together, they can make a significant impact in tackling the issue of littering and promoting environmental consciousness. The Eco Warriors are indeed making a positive difference, and it is encouraging to see their commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment. With their continued efforts and the involvement of various stakeholders, it is hopeful that awareness about the importance of environmental conservation will continue to grow, leading to lasting change in people’s attitudes and behaviors towards keeping public areas clean.
