Meghshrey, a Mumbai based NGO founded by Ms. Seema Singh organised a wonderful pre-Christmas celebration with underprivileged children.

The festival of Christmas calls for love, merry-making and lots of laughter. And children await this festival as they long for gifts from Santa. All kids need a Santa Claus in their life. Someone to make them feel loved, bring gifts for them and spread joy in their lives. Seema wished to bring a smile on the faces of the underprivileged children and thus decided to become Santa Claus for these kids. In fact, when her daughter Meghna was small, Seema dressed her up as Santa & took her to an orphanage for Christmas celebration. After distributing the gifts, the young Meghna asked, ‘Mummy! When can we do this again?’ Ever since then Seema celebrates most of the festivals at the orphanage.

Through her organization, Meghashrey, Seema arranged several activities for these children. Just like Santa Claus, Seema spread the joy and cheer of Christmas festival by distributing gifts to all the children. The team also distributed snack boxes to all the children. Seema was accompanied by her two children, Meghna and Shrey who also took an active part in the celebration and spent time with the kids.

On this occasion, Ms. Seema Singh, founder Meghashrey said, “Christmas is a time of celebration, hope & laughter and we at Meghashrey organized this activity in order to bring the joy in the lives of these underprivileged children who are deprived of this experience.”

Both the children and the Meghashrey team enjoyed themselves during the event. The children were made to wear Santa hats. They were very happy seeing a Santa Claus and got super excited on receiving gifts. Everyone had a merry time.

Seema further added that ‘December is my season to impart this happiness and love and lots of joy. It’s here I meet all these wonderful kids and love to spend time with them. My heart melts seeing their innocent faces and honest eyes. Despite having lesser resources, these kids never demand much and that’s when I feel like sharing much much more. It’s that when I promised myself I will do whatever it takes to make their lives a little better in my own small way.’

Seema Singh started doing social activities some 15 years ago to bring a positive change in society and helping the needy. She is strongly supported in her initiatives by her family – her husband and two children Meghna and Shrey. Later she started the NGO ‘Meghashrey’ named after her children with an aim to serve the underprivileged and needy people of India. Over the years they have made many small and significant contribution to the society. Meghashrey works on the motto, ‘to lose yourself in the service of others,’ as said by the great leader Mahatma Gandhi. They have organized many food distribution drives, sapling distribution drive, blanket distribution drives and many other social activities.
