NCPA@ThePark announces its second edition at Bandra Fort

After the tremendous success of the first edition, Mumbai’s premier arts and cultural institution, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in association with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announces its second edition of ‘NCPA@ThePark’ – an initiative that aims to celebrate the return of live performances and performing arts in the city and welcome art enthusiasts back to theatres

The second edition of NCPA@ThePark is scheduled for 26 – 27 March 2022 at the Bandra Fort Amphitheatre. The event will feature an exciting blend of events across music and dance and will be open to the public free of cost on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

The first event on 26 March, will feature the Members of the Symphony Orchestra of India performing an evening of light classical music featuring waltzes, marches, polkas and more. Unwind after a long week with the music of beloved composers including Mozart, Johann Strauss, and more, as well as some popular tunes.

This will be followed by ‘One Night Only’ – A Diva Special Presented by Keshia B which will showcase the music of great divas, like Etta James, Whitney Houston, Ledisi, Erykah Badu and Adele to name a few.

27 March will feature ‘Folktronika with Rahul Sharma & Group’ which includes Ashwin Rokade (keyboard), Vinayak Pol (drums) and Aditya Kalyanpur (tabla) along with Amit Gadgil (bass guitar) and Sanjoy Das (electric guitar). Folktronica blends acoustic sounds with electronic sound, leading to high energy fusion. The group also explores folk melodies from Jammu-Kashmir, Assam and other regions. 

This will be followed by a ‘Lokadhaaraa Folk Dances of India by Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyalaya’ with Vaidehi Rele and Swapnokalpa Dasgupta. The beautiful performance is woven together with the vibrant folk dances of India – Kajri from Uttar Pradesh, Koli from Maharashtra, Haryanvi Ghoomar from Haryana, Bihu from Assam, Garba from Gujarat.
