RD National College honours Vidyasagar Principal K.M. Kundnani on Founder’s Day

R.D. and S.H. National College inaugurated the statue of Vidyasagar Principal K.M. Kundnani, Founder Principal of the college as well as the Founder, Secretary, and President of the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board on Founder’s Day celebrated in memory of the great soul, on 26th September 2022 organised by Principal, R.D. and S.H. National College, Dr Neha Jagtiani. The statue’s inauguration was done by the august hands of the Governor of Maharashtra, His Excellency Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari Ji.

The trustees of the HSNC Board, President HSNCB, Shri Anil Harish, Immediate Past President, Shri Kishu Mansukhani, Provost HSNCU, Dr Niranjan Hiranandani and the Principals of all colleges affiliated with the HSNC Board were present for the same along with the staff and students of R.D. and S.H. National College.

The college was established with the blessings and leadership of Rishi Dayaram Gidumal and Dr Annie Besant in 1949. It is one of the oldest colleges affiliated with the University of Mumbai and the first of the 24 educational institutions established by the Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board. A proud Sindhi Minority institute which is truly ‘national’ in spirit, it has grown from strength to strength in the past 7 decades. We are the mother institution and so envelope within ourselves the cultural richness and the history of the Hyderabad and Sindh Board. In our legacy of 70 years, we have had leaders and prominent personalities from all walks of life from the late president of India. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to the music maestro, A.R. Rahman, visiting and motivating our students from time to time.

Vidyasagar Principal Kundnani was a great educationist and in keeping with his ideals of encouraging the multi-faceted development of our students, our college has undertaken several initiatives over the past few years, such as the development of the Dhanwantari Medicinal Plant Garden on campus in collaboration with Sushila Hospitals and Research Centre, Nashik, starting the first Institution Innovation Cell in Mumbai and being honoured with a 5-star rating from amongst 1700 IICs all over the country, the establishment of the UPSC Studies Centre, a Campus Induced Placement and Internship Drive, launching the Rotary Club of R.D. National College, promotion of the Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign in collaboration with Mumbai Police and local NGOs among several other academic and social outreach initiatives.
