In order to help charge electric vehicles, an electric vehicle fast charging point has been recently installed at Bandra. Now, for the first time, people using electric vehicles can charge their vehicles at this charging point for free till December-end.

Inaugurated by Tarun Kapoor, IAS, Secretary, MoP&NG, Govt of India, Tata Power successfully installed the first fast DC changer in at Kini’s Causeway.

The charging point has been installed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Tata Power to ease the burden of charging vehicles for users. Using this fast charging point, vehicles can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent battery power in 60 minutes.

Electric vehicle users need to download Tata Power EZ Charge Android app where they can scan the RFID tag, select the required options and plug-in the charger. Anish Kanakia, owner of the petrol pump, said, “It is a fast charging point so vehicles can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent battery power within an hour. It depends on each vehicle as there are different types of batteries. For example, a Tata Nexon EV can charge to 100 per cent in around 45 minutes.”

The charging point was installed on November 24, 2020. It is the first electric vehicle charging station at a petrol pump in Bandra. Kanakia said, “People can come in with their vehicles anytime and charge their electric vehicles at this charging point as it is 24×7 functional petrol pump.”

Though electric vehicles are a bit uncommon there are some people who are shifting to electric vehicles. Kanakia said, “Charging electric vehicles is a major issue faced by electric vehicle users. Portable chargers are the way forward in the future where users can carry portable chargers and charge their vehicles anywhere when the battery drains out. For now, these charging points will help keep the electric vehicles running and resolve issues faced by its users especially during a long distance trip.” Indian Oil is leading the way in providing clean energy facilities to India.
